In a season opener, the Lady Kougars C-Team welcomed 4A Duneland Conference foe the Lake Central Lady Indians into the Kougar Den this evening. The ladies jumped out to an early 11-3 lead after the first quarter. At halftime, the Kougars extended the lead to 17-5 holding the Indians to just one field goal in each of the 1st two quarters. After halftime, they used a trapping defense resulting in many steals and forcing the Lady Indians into many turnovers. A 12-4 3rd quarter saw the Kougars take a commanding 29-9 lead. At the end, it was the Lady Kougars securing their first victory of the season with a final score of 35-19. Leading the way for KV was Tinley Van Meter by dominating the inside game with 15 points. She got a lot of support from Riley Jones and Aubree Bristol with 6 points each. Brooklyn Whitt chipped in 5. Maci Schoon added 3 but it was her defense and multiple steals that ignited the crowd. Laney Walstra and Lindsey Crowley had major contributions on defense and scrapping for loose balls to help limit the Indians chances. Next up for the C-Team will be another larger school opponent as they take on the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos Monday, November 10th at 5:30PM at KV in the Kougar Den. Come out and support this young feisty team!
