The Kankakee Valley High School boys' track and field team traveled to Lowell on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 where they fell short to the NCC rival 87 to 45. Senior Matt Ritchie won the 100m dash and placed third in the 200m dash, while Nolen Kooistra won the 200m and 400m dashes. The Kougars swept the pole vault, where they were uncontested, with Joey Patton taking first, Braiden Huff second, and Zach Patton third. "We did have some PR performances," stated Coach Adams, "but overall the consensus among our athletes was that we felt flat. Multiple guys observed that we were seeing the effects of not being able to get in our typical workout the day before a meet. Lightning forced us inside. I'm not sure if the storm impacted Lowell, but even if it did, they could conduct a workout in a field house rather than on treadmills, stairs, and gym floors." The Kougars compete next at the long-running Hobart Little 5 invitational on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:00 am.
