KVHS Girls' Track and Field had a tremendous meet at the Portage Regional vs. very tough competition. Team score: 29 points, 7th out of 26 scoring teams. Pole Vault: 1. Haylee Hass-11-6 , SCHOOL RECORD; another amazing performance by KV's NCC Athlete of the Year; Hass continues to shine when it matters the most! 1600: 2. Jenna Walker-5:06.29, 3. Krista Sytsma-5:09.43; two super courageous runs here to get out, Walker runs a phenomenal SB by some TWELVE seconds, while Sytsma hangs very tough in 3rd to also advance. (NOTE: Hass, Walker, and Sytsma, 800 in 2025, return to the state meet), Friday June 5th in Indy. KV regional placers, a very big accomplishment , included: 3200: 6. Sytsma-11:51.39, gutsy run by the junior. Long jump: 8. Sophie Singleton-16-7.50, very well done by the rookie. 4x800: 8. Faith Terborg-Reese Van Meter, recently named a NCC Scholar-Athlete, and IATCCC FIRST Team Academic All-Stater, Ainsley Summers-Gabbi Diener, also a NCC Scholar-Athlete- 10:17.54. All four ran great, SEVENTEEN ish seconds faster than last week, seeded 12th! Terborg led off in 2:26+, with Diener a 2:29+ anchor leg to take her team from 4th to 1st in heat 1, and 8th place overall! EVERY athlete that competed did very well, very impressive at this level. GO KOUGS!! Others with strong regional finishes were: Shot Put: Liv Adams-gigantic PR of 34-8.5, good for 11th, Jackie Vander Woude-12th-34-8; High jump: Leah Hanselman-tied for 9th at 4-10; Pole vault-Jas Robledo-14th tie at 8-6; 200: Elyce Gillette, NCC Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-State HM-15th in 27.20; 4x400 relay of Walker-Van Meter-Diener and Gillette-14th in 4:19.26, and the 4x100 relay team of Avery Myers-Singleton-Diener and Gillette, a strong 10th in 51.73. Very hard to say good-bye to ALL our seniors, all contributed much, they will be very well represented at state by Hass. To those who finished their stellar careers tonight at regional: Van Meter, Diener, Gillette, Terborg and Robledo, thank you all so much for the many contributions you added to the tradition that is Lady Kougar Track and Field. Your coaches appreciate you very much!
