The KV Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted new Conference foe, Illiana Christian, last night in their season opener. KV Junior, Juliet Skowronski would strike first with a perfectly curled shot from 30 yards out. Shortly before halftime, Senior, Rheyna Smith volleyed a goal into the back of the net off of a deflected free kick by Showronski putting the Kougars up 2-0. In the second half the tough Valley defense held their ground and secured a shut out victory against the Vikings. First year Senior goalkeeper, Rigley Pszonka ended the night with a clean sheet tallying 7 saves. The Kougar's win marked the first for new Head Coach, Cassie Hinsey. Their next matchup is this Saturday on the road against Portage.
