Varsity vs Andrean (4 - 1) Win After last week’s heatwave, the slight breeze today was very appreciated. Even though it was definitely still hot outside, the improvement was felt. Before Andrean arrived, the Kougars collected their new uniforms. They had three color options: black, white, and neon pink. Today, the boys wore their white shirts. A sizable crowd showed up to support both teams as the matches began. Andrean brought 13 players, so #3 singles was removed from the line up, and playbacks were prepared. It worked out perfectly for every Kougar to play every JV Andrean player one extra time! By the time the last playback match began, the sun was softer and the temperature was genuinely pleasant. After Duke Blanco’s #2 varsity doubles match ended, he began taking yearbook pictures. Coach DeVries even learned how to snap a few pictures before the camera popped up an “error” code (as it tends to do in its old age). #2 varsity singles Joel Previs ended up having the longest and most competitive match of the night. Many eyes focused their attention to see their intense rallies. Previs particularly impressed the crowd with his sharp slices. The ball would sometimes just trickle over the net, and immediately fall flat, making it nearly impossible to return. He was able to secure a win in the end! The boys met up on court #7 with the coaches for some post-match jokes and banter. They talked about Saturday’s tournament win as well. Some players opted to stay and get some extra reps in since the weather was so lovely. Thank you, Andrean, for such a great match! - JV Coach Lauren Anderson
