Varsity vs North Judson (4 - 1) Win Senior night this season began with the usual round of practice before North Judson arrived. The weather was hot again, but tolerable. On the baseball field nearby, some of the girls from the junior class practiced for Thursday’s Powerpuff game. Our seniors, Carson Armstrong and Mason Dase, were announced and honored with their families before introductions. Yearbook staff members Cailyn and Sadie came by to get some photos of the evening. The Kougars were rowdy before the match and full of excitement to get to their matches. As they began, Coach Anderson talked with the JV and with North Judson’s coaches to figure out how to ensure everyone got to play against the Bluejays today. JV matches did not last too long today, so playbacks were able to get moving. For these playbacks, some of the Bluejays switched roles, getting some singles and doubles practice in. To help us out, some of them even played three separate matches. The boys were very thankful to get more experience playing. Once other courts opened up, some Kougars continued to practice and play matches against each other. Some thunder in the area briefly delayed matches. Teams had to pack up and head into the “E” Building for safety. Not only did this affect the tennis team, but also soccer and the homecoming carnival going on. Luckily, no rain ever fell, even though the wind carried a faint smell of it through the air. The longest match of the evening was varsity #3 singles with Carson Armstrong. After both competitors picked up a set, they went into a third to decide the win. Both teams pooled around the fence to watch gameplay. Going into a third set is often exhausting and grueling. Armstrong fought hard, but unfortunately, the third set went in favor of his opponent. Just as the match came to a close, another lightning advisory began. Both teams quickly gathered their things, and the night came to an end. - JV Coach Lauren Anderson
