Varsity Boys Soccer Falls To Highland In Conference Opener 6-0

By Jovan Jeftich | Aug 27, 2025 8:34 PM

The KV boys varsity soccer team was unable to overcome a four goal halftime deficit and dropped their first conference game of the season 6-0 to the Highland Trojans. To start the game, the Kougars did have some chances to get the first goal of the match. But an offsides call and some timely saves by the Trojan goalkeeper kept KV off the scoreboard. As the half wore on, the physicality and speed of the Trojans would take its toll on a young Kougar squad. Highland would eventually score three goals in a very short span of time and ultimately made it tough for the Kougars to come back from. In the second half, KV played much better than they did in the first. Unfortunately the hosts would add two more goals to round out the scoring in the game. KV did have some dangerous set piece opportunities but just could't find that finishing touch to get on the scoreboard. "This was a tough game for us tonight." said head KV coach Jovan Jeftich. "Highland was able to expose our weaknesses and they took advantage of it. We are a very young team and this game will be a very good learning experience for our players. We didn't expect the game to go this way, but it did. We will continue to work on getting better as a team as we move forward with our season." KV will be back in action this weekend when its travels to Plymouth to take part in the Blueberry Festival Invitational. The Kougars will take on the hosts Plymouth and Logansport. Game Statistics Saves Damien Vargas 12 Record 3-1 (0-1 NCC)
